We started Autumn's Corner because the furniture we wanted for our daughter simply didn't exist.

Everything we make is built in our Cardiff workshop, in small batches, by people who care about the detail. Not because it's a marketing line — because it's the only way we know how to make something worth keeping.

  • Because it's a fundamentally different product. Solid ash rather than MDF, dovetail joinery, hand-finished in Cardiff and arriving fully assembled. A flatpack shelf is replaced every few years — this one lasts beyond childhood, which makes it better value over time.
  • Solid ash is a hardwood — it doesn't chip, warp, or soften at joints the way MDF and softwood shelves do over time. Our shelves use traditional dovetail joinery, which means they're held together mechanically rather than by glue and screws alone. The result is a shelf that lasts decades rather than a few years.
  • Yes, fully. Every shelf leaves our Cardiff workshop assembled and ready to mount. All you need is a drill and the included fixings. Most customers have theirs on the wall within fifteen minutes of opening the box.
  • Each shelf is handmade to order, so please allow 5–10 working days. We don't hold stock — your shelf is made when you order it, which is part of what makes each one individual. Free UK delivery on all orders.
  • Yes. Klarna is available at checkout, letting you spread the cost interest-free. A 60cm shelf works out at under £13/month over six months — less than most people spend on books to go on it.
  • Construction, size options, and price are identical. The only difference is aesthetic — The Story Shelf has a natural ash front bar, while the Colour Pop version has a hand-painted front bar in your choice of eleven colours. Both come in Natural Wood or painted finish for the body.
