Daisy designs every Autumn's Corner piece, and Luke makes them in our Cardiff workshop. Each shelf is cut, joined, sanded and painted there, then sent to you fully assembled.
We use solid ash and oak because they wear well and get better with age, and dovetails because they hold for generations. Furniture made properly, at a price that makes sense for a child's room.

Which Story Shelf size should I choose?
It depends on the books, so here's the space inside each Story Shelf. Every size is 13cm deep and 15cm tall overall, with 115mm of usable depth inside: room for a stack of books behind the one on show.
- 40cm: 360mm wide inside
- 50cm: 460mm wide inside
- 60cm: 560mm wide inside
- 70cm: 660mm wide inside
- 80cm: 760mm wide inside
Most picture books are 25 to 30cm wide. A single small shelf suits a cot side or reading nook; two or three wider ones stacked make a whole reading wall.
How does it fix to the wall?
Every shelf arrives fully assembled with 2 screws, 2 universal wall plugs and 2 keyhole markers. Slot the markers into the back, hold the shelf level against the wall and press: they mark exactly where to drill, so there's no measuring. You'll need a drill with a 6mm bit and a spirit level. The plugs work in both solid walls and plasterboard; if you're unsure about your wall, ask a professional for advice before fitting.

Each shelf is made to order in our Cardiff workshop and dispatched within 10–12 working days, fully assembled, with free UK delivery.
Is the paint safe for children?
Yes. Every colour is painted in our Cardiff workshop with a furniture paint tested to EN 71-3, the safety standard for children's toys.
